Dance For Your Nerves

Slow Moving Dance Exercise Classes: For Teens and Up

Offered when invited to your studio.

       Preventative for Healthy, Mobile Bodies.

                       Restorative for Hurting, Healing Bodies.

Most people dance with incorrect joint placement, without knowing they’re using the wrong muscles, due to past trauma.

Since my focus in everything I do is the nervous system my dance classes teach you…

 * How to read your body (being aware of jerks and jumps in your muscles)

 * To be aware of your discomfort when doing a certain movement,

 * How to release this discomfort and restore your muscle and joint strength.

Slow moving classes, great for checking your alignment, building strength and flexiblity.

Depending on people’s interest, I can offer multiple 1- hour classes in a day.

In all of my classes I explain what you’re trying to do and why.

I try to make the classes non-intimidating, informative and fun; focusing on 4 principles from Pilates:

 * Breathing,

 * Whole Body Commitment (Concentration, control, Centering, Precision, Rhythm),

 * Oppositional pull,

 * Whole Body Health (not one muscle or muscle group is over working)

My Goal:

To empower you to know what to do in any exercise environment when you are feeling discomfort. (Not just dancing but out hiking, running, bicycling, exercising at the gym, Pilates class, Yoga, etc.) To empower you to understand your body’s messages and how to address them instead of worrying about them.

Other Offerings:

I also offer private Sessions ~ These Sessions are more personalized:

 *  For an injured hurting body: to correct poor muscle use by offering exercises to strengthen and enhance your healing. (I recommend connecting with a Bowen Practicioner in your area.)

 * For a Healthy Dance body: alignment check and exercises to remain strong and flexible.

If your studio does not offer Pilates classes, I can teach Pilates all levels mat classes for Dancers, as well. This class would be open to teens through adults any age. The classes could be set up for a dancer’s only class and another class for non-dancers who are interested in learning more about their body’s.
